RVMC have a prescription policy which covers the prescribing of medications for up to 12-months.
Patients must book a 30 minute “Annual Medication Review” appointment with their GP. These appointments can only be booked by phoning the admin team on 09 524 5547.
Prescribers should consider a 12‑month prescription only when:
The patient has attended a 30-minute annual medication review appointment (double appointment)
The medicine is stable and low‑risk
The patient’s condition is well‑controlled
Monitoring requirements are minimal and predictable
No significant dose adjustments are expected
The patient is reliable with follow‑up and medication use

Introducing Dr Kavita Rao
We’re delighted to welcome Dr Kavita Rao to our team.
Dr Rao was born in Mumbai, India and moved to Auckland in 1999. She grew up here in central Auckland, completing her primary, intermediate, and high school years before heading south to Dunedin to study at Otago.
She holds both a BSc degree and a medical degree from Otago. She has worked across all of Auckland’s main hospitals and experienced a wide range of specialties before choosing to focus on community medicine. Dr Rao has a special interest in Women’s Health and General Medicine.
Outside of work, Dr Rao enjoys spending time with family and friends, discovering Auckland’s amazing cafes and restaurants, and travelling.
Dr Kavita will be working Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm.
